14 Reasons Why You Should Buy a Nespresso Machine

7.7K

From coffee enthusiasts to instant coffee drinkers, Nespresso has captivated just about anyone who drinks coffee. And, fortunately, that’s basically anyone alive right now – about 80% of the world consumes coffee every day, whether as their sole source of caffeine or along with tea.

And for a beverage this popular, it’s no wonder that there are so many options out there for making it – from the ground to the whole bean. Instant or green beans. Starbucks or homemade.

But if you’re reading this, you’ve already narrowed your preferences: What you want is a good coffee maker that is simple to use and lets you make espresso at home. This takes us right into the first item on our list.

1. Espresso at home

By far the most immediate reason to buy a Nespresso coffee maker is that you can make espresso at home.

But of course, it’s not just making espresso: It’s making a good espresso without having to deal with anything else than just one button. All other espresso machines involve a certain degree of know-how and a lot of effort to be put into learning how to really get good results with said machine.

But Nespresso, being a single-serve machine, gives you what is probably the best single-serve option there is out there: Nespresso coffee and Nespresso technology all designed to serve you a great cup of coffee at home with just the push of a button.

2. Consistent coffee quality

Think about it: The whole ordeal of having to buy a different coffee each time – there are many variables that can (and will) change the taste of your coffee. Things like different grinds, different levels of coffee freshness, and just different preparations in general – as much as you try to control it.

But a Nespresso machine overcomes any sort of variable. Coffee capsules conserve the coffee in perfect conditions (coffee is ground and then packaged at the same facility), bring the exact same coffee in quantity and quality.

Each Nespresso also brews coffee in the exact same way, though time may vary depending on how fast the machine can heat up the water; otherwise, any Nespresso machine will give the exact same results each time: A consistently good espresso.

3. Inexpensive, good-quality coffee

Some people argue that coffee capsules are expensive. While this might be true to a certain extent, if you look at it closely, you’ll see that it’s actually a much cheaper option.

Think about how much your coffee shop of choice charges you for an espresso – let alone a more complicated drink. Nespresso gives you a coffee that is just as good for a fraction of the price – not to mention all the time you save (potentially saving a lot of fuel, too!).

Then, there is the whole thing of buying whole coffee beans – yes, this option is definitely cheaper than coffee capsules. But, if you don’t own a coffee grinder, what’s the point? You would have to invest in yet another machine – and you won’t be satisfied with a low-range kind of grinder, either.

Grinders, after all, are wasteful machines. A lot of spills will be involved, and they aren’t really easy machines to master.

If you put together how much it would cost for you to get a grinder, capsule coffee would still come out on top.

4. Lots of options for you to choose from

Gone are the days when coffee capsules were a restricted, limited thing that one could only really get at certain, exclusive stores.

Nowadays, there are so many businesses out there putting out their own, unique products that sometimes we can’t even keep up with it – it’s amazing the number of coffee lovers who have started to contribute to the capsule coffee world.

It’s more than just independent companies – you can probably find your favorite brand of coffee that you already drink in capsule form. This was Nespresso’s biggest weakness until not so long ago – the tables have turned in a dramatic fashion.

Whether you want Starbucks, authentic Cuban coffee, something Italian – you can find it in a capsule.

5. Exclusive coffee

Forget regular capsule coffee: Nespresso VertuoLine machines are the only ones in the world who can brew Vertuo coffee capsules.

This is 100% a coffee experience that cannot be replicated or imitated – only with Nespresso are you able to enjoy a coffee like this.

And for those who don’t know what VertuoLine is, it’s both a change in the way that the coffee is brewed and the coffee capsules themselves.

VertuoLine machines are equipped with a patented, unique technology that combines two different extraction methods to create a single, unique, more efficient way to get all the flavor out of your coffee. It combines water flow with rotational speed (it literally spins water to create a whirlpool inside the machine) and infusion.

Then, there are the VertuoLine capsules: instead of coming in a standard size, VertuoLine capsules are made in 5 different sizes – which means that you can make yourself anything from a small espresso to a tall mug of coffee with just one capsule, one button.

If we had to say anything against this is that, well, Nespresso VertuoLine coffee makers aren’t compatible with any other capsules except Nespresso’s very own Vertuo capsules. This is because these machines have a different way of brewing capsules, making them incompatible with anything else than the Vertuo kind. But this will probably change in the future, just like it did with regular capsules… Or so we hope!

6. Hassle-free cleaning

One of our favorite things about Nespresso machines is how easy they’ve made maintenance for us regular mortals. In the old days, espresso machines required specialists to come and take the machine apart and clean it properly so it could be reborn.

Still to this day, espresso machines are very tricky to keep in shape. But Nespresso machines have somehow achieved a machine that seldom needs cleaning. Not only that, but there’s even a Descaling function for the machine, and a Nespresso brand descaling liquid. It’s all just mind-bogglingly easy for anyone who’s had to deal with tricky machines in the past.

Besides the easy descaling, Nespresso machines are kept clean easily – you just need to be careful not to get it dirty in the first place and you won’t have to worry about having to clean it too often.

7. Minimalistic designs

Ever seen an espresso machine in the flesh? Those things are heavy. Chunky. Really, really big.

This is one of the first problems that any coffee enthusiast will find whenever thinking about getting one of these: Where in the world am I going to fit such a machine?

Good news is, Nespresso machines are incredibly compact – from the most inexpensive one to the higher-end Nespresso coffee makers, they all aim to be ergonomic, small machines that can easily fit in any type of kitchen; no matter how small.

8. Fast coffee

Nespresso machines are seriously fast. Not even other single-serve machines can equal Nespresso: Keurig coffee makers, for example, take about one minute or more to brew your coffee while Nespresso coffee makers take from 10 to 35 seconds depending on the machine. That’s lightning speed.

And let’s not even compare 30 seconds with how much it would take with a regular espresso machine. Actually, the only way to make coffee faster than Nespresso is instant coffee – and we all know how instant coffee tastes.

9. Environmentally conscious

Getting a Nespresso machine is, surprisingly, one of the more environmentally conscious options out there.

This is primarily because all Nespresso machines are programmed to shut themselves off after a short period of inactivity, thus saving power.

But the biggest eco-friendly thing about Nespresso is its recycling program.

How this works is, basically, Nespresso doing most of the recycling work for you – recycling feels like such a chore, it ends up with the rest of the trash out of laziness.

But Nespresso gives you free recycling bags for your used capsules – bags that you can drop off at specific locations so that Nespresso can recycle as much of them as possible.

Drop-off locations are widely available and there’s always more popping up near you. Check them out with a simple google search.

10. Programmable online orders

Nespresso wants you to never have to worry about running out of coffee. That’s why, once you’ve figured just what kind of coffee you want to drink (and how much of it you want to drink, of course!) you can simply let the guys at Nespresso ship you the same order once a month.

This means that we won’t ever gonna have to run to the store because you’ve run out of coffee… Or even worse, start your morning without coffee! (We do recommend to keep instant coffee around the house for situations like these, though. A hidden box with “in case of emergency” written on it).

Plus, having a scheduled order saves you a lot of time and stress. You can just sit back en enjoy coffee in a way that’s never been possible before.

Of course, since this is an exclusive Nespresso service you won’t be able to order anything but the coffee that Nespresso has to offer – but this is actually quite enough. Their coffee selection is impressive even for experienced drinkers.

You can also set this up so that recycling bags are shipped along with your coffee order.

11. Serve your friends good coffee

In any given group of friends, there’s always two polar opposites: the guy who can’t make a cup of coffee that doesn’t taste like burnt wood and the guy who is just too good at making coffee.

Nespresso is, honestly, the easiest way not to end up being the first type of person without otherwise having to buy a bunch of things you don’t really want: with a Nespresso, you can serve your guests good coffee no matter how clumsy you may be at brewing coffee.

Lavazza, another reputable coffee brand, is quite comparable to Nespresso. See why in our article Coffee insight: Lavazza VS Nespresso.

12. Failproof machines

The thing about Nespresso machines that you really need to know is that these beauties are virtually failproof. They’re so well designed – since they need very little maintenance and the most important one, descaling, which can mean the death of a coffee machine when neglected, is practically hard-wired into Nespresso machines.

The amount of Nespresso coffee makers that malfunction is very low, which puts us at great ease. Coffee machinery is tricky, complicated, and prone to failing often and failing big.

13. For latte and cappuccino lovers

Not really an espresso kind of person? No worries there: There are plenty of Nespresso options that can make you espresso-based drinks.

Hell, there’s even a Nespresso machine that can make you a cappuccino without you having to do anything else but push a couple of buttons! It is ridiculous… And amazing.

14. The taste of Nespresso

Last, but not least, let’s talk about taste. While we have given many of the more common reasons people have ditched other coffee makers for Nespresso, we still haven’t talked about the most compelling one: the taste of Nespresso’s coffee.

It’s actually a very common story by now. A self-appointed espresso lover who is strongly against any way of making espresso that isn’t the good ol’ espresso machines ends up, under whatever circumstances (usually unknowingly) tasting a cup of Nespresso.

Upon tasting that first sip, their whole world is turned upside down. You don’t actually need to be an expert in order to make good espresso!

And let’s not even talk about VertuoLine coffee. Its most distinguishing feature is the creamy, thick layer of cream that accompanies each coffee brewed with these capsules – which is possible both because of the unique brewing process and because of the superior coffee quality.
