The 3 Best Alcoholic Coffee Drinks You Have to Try

1.3K

Doctors usually advise against drinking alcohol and coffee simultaneously. This is because it’s bad for your heart and can cause serious damage in the long run. But every once in a while it couldn’t hurt… Right?

Completely right, and we sometimes need an extra boost on our night out, so it’s fine. Make sure you limit this kind of consumption though, don’t drink alcoholic coffees every Friday just because you can’t keep up, it’s not worth it.

So, what are the best alcoholic coffee drinks?

Irish Coffee

You all saw this coming. The highest-ranking alcoholic coffee is easily the Irish one. You only need a little whiskey, a shot of espresso and some cold brew coffee for it. There is no set recipe for Irish coffee, so you can experiment with the ratio and how you sweeten it.

Although generally, it has a strong whiskey taste, but not enough so that you want to drink it in shots. The espresso and the coffee should take over just when it would burn your mouth, so you will end up with a nice bitter finish.

If you want then you can also use cream and ice, but those are mainly for the summer, so we don’t advise you to try them during this winter, you will easily end up with a cold.

Our favorite recipe for Irish coffee goes like this:

  • 4 ounces strong, rich hot coffee
  • 1 1/2 ounce Irish whiskey
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 ounce lightly whipped heavy cream

First, dissolve the sugar in the coffee, then pour in the whiskey. After that, all you need to do is carefully put the cream on top. For the best results pour it on the underside of a spoon, so the cream doesn’t sink to the bottom. That way you can drink your coffee through it.

Hot White Russian

Russians are generally very strong cocktails, so be careful with them. Especially this one, because you won’t feel the amount of alcohol you are actually consuming and it’s really easy to get wasted with this drink. And you won’t even notice it. You don’t want to be the person in the party that keeps saying “What? I’m not even drunk!” even though everyone knows that you really are.

The hot white Russian is almost like creamy vanilla-flavored hot chocolate. Except for the part where it’s filled with vodka, but that’s beside the point.

Once again, there are many recipes, but we have a favorite:

  • 2.5 cups freshly brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup of coffee liquor
  • 1/4 a cup of vodka
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream

Pour the ingredients in a saucepan and place it over moderate heat. Allow everything to mix together until you reach the creamy consistency. Pour into a cup or if you made more then cups. You can add whipping cream on top, then put a dash of cinnamon or cocoa on it. But if you are feeling Christmasy then put ground up candy canes on it.

El Cafecito

This drink is pretty uncommon, not many people have heard the name even. But that’s quite unfortunate, as it’s an amazing beverage for coffee lovers.

First of all, the consistency is very silky and mimics coffee perfectly. It flows just fine and is a pleasure to drink.

But the taste is even better. The rum gives the slightly bitter aroma and the liquor and maple syrup give the sugary flavor which is the signature of this drink.

Our favorite recipe for el Cafecito is:

  • 1.5 oz. dark rum
  • 1/2 oz. coffee liquor
  • 1/2 oz. maple syrup
  • ground dark chocolate

This one is pretty easy to make. All you need to do is place all the ingredients in a shaker and have at it. Then just pour it all on ice. Ready to serve!

These drinks are perfect for anyone who needs a quick boost during their night out or for those who want to relax in the evening with their coffee. They can serve both of these purposes, so it has a pretty good amount of variety.
