You wouldn’t expect a flowery drink to be slightly bitter and creamy, yet here it is. Its’ taste resembles rich coffee, but it’s actually completely herbal and is free of caffeine. It’s a well-known coffee substitute, although not many people have heard of it.

It is made of roasted dandelion root, chicory, beets, barley, and rye. All of these are natural ingredients, which makes it a wonderful choice for anyone who wants to watch what they consume. If you have dandelions growing around your home then you can even use them to brew a cup. (Wash everything thoroughly if you take this route.)

This tea is only slightly bitter but has zero acidity. Meaning that you can drink as much as you want without damaging your stomach.

Warning: Roasted Almond Tea is really sweet and contains a lot of carbs. If you are trying to watch your weight then avoid it at all costs as its’ taste can get very addictive.

So let’s talk about the latter. It’s a silky drink that is full of ingredients that will make your water mouth just by thinking of them. It has the taste of a caramel frappucino. That’s because the main ingredient is roasted caramelized almond. It’s absolutely heavenly!

The rest are apple pieces, cinnamon, and beetroot pieces. These all complement the rich coffee flavor that is sure to wake you up in the morning even without caffeine in them because yes, this herbal tea almost has no caffeine in it at all.

You can drink it with vanilla ice cream, as the slightly nutty flavor will go really well with it. But it’s also perfect for cold winter nights when you are sitting by the fireplace and gazing out at the snowfall. Oh, did we mention that it has a really nice aesthetic?

It looks amazing in pictures, especially if you put it in see-through glass, as it could fool anyone into thinking it is actually coffee. So if you are looking to shoot that perfect picture for Instagram then this can also work really nicely.

What We Didn’t Like

Let us tell you something first before you start getting excited about this tea. It’s best if you make it yourself, so prepare for all the trouble that comes with it.

This tea was the original substitute and people have been using it since ancient times. Mostly because back then coffee wasn’t available for everyone, but this drink mimicked the taste and consistency perfectly. Although, it was and still is completely caffeine-free. So if people wanted to have a boost with a drink then this surely wasn’t their choice.

Nowadays it’s still used by many, as it has a great coffee taste, that usually resembles the aroma of lightly roasted beans. But that depends on the rest of the ingredients, as it can contain anything from peas and chicory to dandelions and figs. Basically any plant can go in this drink and it will still work really well.

But the way to make it can be quite difficult. First of all, you need to buy roasted acorns or you need to roast them yourself. The latter is really hard to do, so we advise you to do the first if you want to save yourself the trouble.

After that though, the job is pretty simple. You simply need to smash the acorns, then put the powder in boiling water along with the other ingredients of your choice. And you’re done.

Caffeine is a big factor when choosing your drink of choice. Be sure to check out “How Much Caffeine Is In: Tea, Soda, Coffee & More” to see in detail the differences in caffeine with different caffeinated beverages.

We don’t know about you, but just by the name of it it’s already on the “Want to drink” list. The words “vanilla” and “hazelnut” can make anyone’s mouth water, so it is very likely to fit your taste as well.

It has the aroma of french vanilla coffee with hints of nuts. The coffee can barely be felt, but just enough to give your taste buds a slight shock. It’s only slightly bitter, so if you have a sweet tooth then we highly recommend this tea. It will make your mornings so much better.

The consistency of it is also really silky smooth, so you could easily mistake it for coffee if you don’t know.

Although, it can be quite hard to get what is required to make this tea. Not many stores sell the ingredients and it can be a real drag to find them if you don’t know where to look. So we suggest you look up everything before you go vanilla hazelnut shopping.

What We Liked

  • It is sweet without sugar
  • The aroma is wonderful
  • Very strong Hazelnut accent

What We Didn’t Like

This is obvious. You can buy these bags anywhere, as they are really common and a lot of people use them as a substitute for coffee. They have very little caffeine and no acidity, so it can work perfectly. It’s also really easy to make, you don’t need to put in a ton of effort just so you can have a cup of it.

It comes in a ton of different flavors, so you can enjoy the variety that coffee also has. These tastes include vanillahazelnutchocolatefrench roast and many more. These aromas are also very intense, making them great for children. So if you want to enjoy a cup in the morning with your entire family then you can do so. And the best part is that they won’t be hyper afterwards because of the lack of caffeine.

Although the consistency doesn’t really work. It’s very watery, so it might feel weird at first if you are used to the creamy and smooth consistency of coffee.

What We Liked

  • It’s very smooth, no bitter aftertaste
  • It’s very stimulating and refreshing too
  • Taste very similar to coffee

What We Didn’t Like

  • It’s smell doesn’t please some people

If you like the brewing part of making coffee then you will love this tea to death. You can make it like you would a regular cup of coffee and it will release the same aroma. It’s absolutely wonderful and comes in plenty of different flavors.

The taste is perfect if you want to use it as decaf coffee. It feels like you are drinking something high-end, rich and full of flavor. You would never guess that it’s actually tea, as the consistency is not watery at all. It’s slightly creamy, especially if you use milk.

But it also has a ton of health benefits. Your body can only suck up the nutrients slowly, making this drink a little bit filling, which can be great if you don’t want to over-indulge. It has a lot of potassium as well, which good for your heart. Although, these things should be expected from “herbal coffee”, especially one that is made of carob, barley, chicory root, almonds, dates and figs.

This brand is also very affordable and you can get it online, but even your local store might sell it. Either way, it isn’t out of reach, so it’s worth a shot to try at the very least.

If you haven’t heard of this brand before then don’t worry, it’s not common knowledge. Although it should be because their instant drink is a great choice for anyone who wants coffee-flavored tea.

First of all, it’s a powder. It’s perfect if you are on the go and want to drink a cup every once in a while. Really, it’s the simplest way to do so. But because it’s a powder it also has a pretty thick consistency if you get the ratio right. This tea is the one that mimics coffee perfectly on this list, so if that’s what is most important to you then you have found the one.

But the taste is also pretty interesting. It’s made of roasted barley, chicory, malt, figs and red beet concentrate. These give this tea a generally bitter flavor, but the aroma can get quite sweet because of the figs and the red beet concentrate. In most cases, you don’t even need to sweeten it.

Unfortunately, it’s only available online. Well, mostly. It isn’t that big of a brand, so it can get hard to find one locally. We suggest that you order it online, as it can be a drag to drive all around town just to find tea.

What We Liked

  • Excellent coffee substitute
  • The taste and consistency is very similar to coffee
  • It also has a nice crema on top when prepared

What We Didn’t Like

  • Too bitter

Tea is a great substitute for coffee, especially so because it comes in coffee flavor. You can easily cut down your caffeine intake with this drink, but you can also cure your regularly upset stomach. Not to mention the health benefits that come from anything made of herbs. It’s simply an easy way to bring in healthy nutrients to your body. Especially if you use honey as a sweetener instead of sugar or any other substitute of it.
