Making iced coffee

Coffee comes in many different forms. Some of us enjoy coffee bitter, while others like the sweeter things. In the same way, some of us love iced coffee almost as much -if not more!- than regular coffee.

However, making iced coffee can be quite a challenge- a lot of the most popular ways are very roundabout and require a lot of extra work that can sometimes seem like too much work for a coffee. Honestly, most of the time, iced coffee cravings stay unsatisfied because of this.

The solution is quite simple: buy a coffee maker that’s specifically for making iced coffee! Or at least one that can easily multi-purpose as an iced coffee maker.

Here’s a selection of the five most efficient, coolest iced coffee makers on the market right now:

HyperChiller Iced Coffee Maker

This is the actual future, right here. The HyperChiller is a machine that uses a complicated mechanism, accompanied by an even more complicated design that cools down freshly brewed coffee in less than a minute. Imagine brewing coffee, piping hot, and turning it into chilled, refreshing coffee in a matter of seconds!

That’s exactly what the HyperChiller does. It has two separate chambers that are filled with ice gel and, in between these two, a chamber for the coffee. You put the coffee, and then the HyperChiller does the rest.

The huge difference between this and regular iced coffee is that you only need one or two cubes of ice in the end. This results in stronger, more flavorful coffee. No more watered-down coffee!

Mr Coffee Iced Coffee Maker

Mr. Coffee is famous for getting things right. Instead of simply putting products out, they seem to really get the needs of their customers. Hence, this absolutely adorable and practical iced coffee maker.

First, let’s talk about the design: the coffee maker is tall, which is something we really appreciate. Iced coffee has to be drunk from a tall glass, so a coffee maker for this type of coffee has to be tall, too, to accommodate for these types of glasses.

The Mr. Coffee iced coffee maker is not very high-tech, but it serves its purpose. It’s a simple coffee maker that makes a very concentrated bre to avoid watered-down coffee. It doesn’t make a lot of coffee at once, and it doesn’t leave a lot of room for experimenting, but it’s compact, practical, and easy to use.

Primula Burke Deluxe (cold brew)

This time, we’re reviewing a cold brew coffee maker. It’s not exactly the same as iced coffee, but our options for making this type of coffee at home are limited. When it comes to cold brew, however, there are plenty more options. And it’s just as refreshing!

The Primula looks much like a French press on the outside, only without a plunger. On the inside, you have two chambers: one is for the water, while the inner chamber is for the ground coffee. This inner chamber has a fine mesh filter instead of walls.

The continued contact brews a very rich coffee while keeping ground coffee out of your cup!

Takeya Iced Coffee Maker

The Takeya Cold Brew coffee maker works just like the Primula one, although its design goes in an entirely different path. While the Primula has a friendly, casual look akin to most traditional coffee makers, the Takeya is classy, fashionable. It uses straight edges to give this coffee maker a more serious, professional look.

Takeya is a Japanese brand, which is always a plus for any coffee maker. Japanese coffee companies are known for their innovation as well as their high-quality products!

This coffee maker is made of highly resistant, durable materials. It also comes in different sizes depending on how much coffee you want to brew at a time: 18, 24, 32, 40, and 64 ounces.

Ovalware Iced Coffee Maker

Lastly, one of our favorite cold brew coffee makers that we’ve seen in the last few years: the Ovalware.

Featuring a super high-quality fine mesh metal filter, this coffee maker makes another level of cold brew that you won’t understand unless you try it for yourself.

On top of that, this coffee maker is a homerun in terms of design: a thin yet strong handle. Made entirely out of high-quality glass, which helps preserve the flavor and aroma longer. A silicone pad at the bottom to avoid slipping, wetting, and in general for the pitcher to have a better grip. It is a very helpful marking on the glass pitcher, which helps us know exactly how much coffee we’re brewing.

Out of 10, this coffee maker is definitely an 11. If you don’t mind going a little unorthodox, this coffee maker is definitely going to make you happy!

Conclusion

Iced coffee and cold brew: which is better? Or, actually, which is which?

As you can see from the two first coffee makers, iced coffee is simply regular coffee which is then chilled, iced, etc. It’s brewed with hot water.

On the other hand, Cold brew refers specifically to the kind of coffee that is brewed using cold or even warm water. But cold is always better.

Iced coffee and cold brew coffee are very different in terms of taste, but they do have one thing in common: they are super refreshing in more than one way. Sometimes you just need something cold, other times, you just need to get your caffeine in a more fun way.

With any of these coffee makers, we guarantee that you’ll be able to enjoy great coffee, no matter whether you choose iced or cold brew. Have fun and enjoy!
